Rpi Install issues

If anyone is up or available for help, I have an issue with the RPI scoop install. When test fitting the rpi scoop, I don't have an area to really mount it to. What I'm thinking is that the last time I took it in to get the front end fixed they forgot to put it original duct work. For reference I have a 2005 530i M54.

It does look like something is missing. I'm not sure how much difference there is between the 535i and the 530i in there but mine looks a lot like this with a cover/plastic piece on it and a separate plastic piece where the air intake area is at that allows air to flow through.

Photo showing what it kind of looks like.. I opted to not remove the plastic cover over the air intake area.. you can kind of see the plastic piece that covers up the larger exposed area like you have showing as well.
