I had the service engine soon light go on three weeks ago, i had the dealer read the code and they tell me its a gas cap is off, so they cleared the code. Now, i get the engine light again? I plan on buying a new gas cap to try to resolve the problem?? I just wanted some input from our members if they have had this type of problem and suggestions to fix it???
(i took off the charcol filter about a year ago, dont know if this can turn on the service engin light?)

That's odd to me. My car told me that the gas cap was loose with a picture on the display...it didn't throw a service light. Just happened a couple days ago. 2005 545.

 

Dealer read my code as gas cap, i just bought i new one last night, i still have the code???

 

Wait a day or two, if the check engine light doesn't go away go back to the dealer and have it reset.
