My Ride: 2005 525i (plain and simple)
Increased emmissions? Hoped it was just the gas cap...it wasn't. Is this a "get to the dealer" ASAP? Car is running fine.

Well it had to happen to somebody else, I just got that error message too. I have an appointment tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.

They had my car fixed in a few hours and said it was the thermostat. No charge so no complaints, except I'm beginning to see my SA more than my car.

Common fault with multiple causes. I recently had the same thing. Repair (in my case, crankcase vent valve replacement) was covered under CPO warranty. While I was there they also found a faulty oil sensor, and replaced that too.
