Ok, like a lot of other E60 owners, I have a car with some electrical gremlins. The clock would lose about a minute each day, I got a battery discharge error message, and the eyebrows stopped working.
I was expecting a battery replacement and most likely the IBS as well. The call from the dealer was not what I was expecting.
In addition to the battery and the IBS, he said the computer was faulty and not letting the car shut down. $1900 for everything. I'm a bit stunned at the moment. My car ran fine; why did I feel it was necessary to fix something only slightly broken?
Just out of warranty, too. 52000 miles.

Ask the dealer for an itemized cost - I'm interested in what they are charging your for the battery and IBS since I've read threads here stating $500 - $600. That would mean a new ECM/labor goes for a little over a grand. Something doesn't seem right here..........
If I were you, I'd tell the dealer to leave the car alone (you are still going to get stuck with diagnostic fees) and swap the battery yourself. There's tons of DIY info on this. Once YOU are confident the battery is not the problem then look around for a good indy mechanic and get a second opintion.
