But its just like: "SUVs are safer". There are some things that will take a long time before people will see the light.

Gas prices have actually been coming down in Canada, but that really doesn't matter, the price of everything else has gone up; utilities, hydro, gas, water, taxes, interest rates, housing prices...
People aren't going to buy luxury cars when they can't afford a place to live.
As for the diesel comments. People will buy them as soon as they are here. Same car but with 40 mpg vs 29 mpg. No brainer if they are the same price or closer.
And a 3 series diesel makes more sense than a 5 series diesel. People buying $70K CAD cars don't car about fuel costs as much. I think a 320d would be a huge seller, just like the 323 is now.
