September 2006 5 Series Sales Report
This September BMW sold only 3,190 units of the 5 Series; down 22.9% from the 4,137 sold last September. YTD sales for the first 9 months of 2006 were up 7.4% compared to the same period of 2005.
By way of comparison, sales of the Mercedes-Benz E Class were down 9.5% with sales of 4,112 units this month and 4,544 units last September. YTD sales of the MB E Class were down 26.3% for the first 9 months of 2006.

I dont think its either. Gas prices here in the states are higher than a couple of years ago, but still much lower than europe..etc..As for the economy, the past week the dow has been hitting record highs. I didnt look at Lexus sales or Mercedes...if they are up, than BMW has something to worry about with all these software problems. People dont care that its only software causing problems, its the same as if major mechanical components were going bad.... we all just want quality from our beamers the way it used to be
