Does this make sense? You feel like we need to do something yet you drive vehicles that get 14 and 16 mpg?

Same reason as me... ya I think something needs to be done... but since nothing is going to be done or I dont like the solution why cant I enjoy a V8? Selfish? if you want to call it that. But really how "selfish" is that? I'm sure there's more selfish acts out there.

It does. If you can afford it, continue enjoying V8. I own V8 and I6 and yes, I am prepared to tolerate higher prices of gas. It will eliminate trips to Starbucks in SUVs - good riddance. Less people driving around - less traffic, less spending on roads. Higher prices of transportation, higher prices of food, less fat people. Higher price of airfare to Hawaii - less people on the beach. Good.

Oh, and cheaper cars too. I'd love to see 630 in US.

I guess BMW will have to use the MINIs to help save the gas guzzling BMWs... help make their 35mpg mark. But by 2020 eh... thats such a long time from now. We'll run out of gas before then hahaha

I wonder if car companies will still be able to produce the nice fast cars they do now and make the 35mpg mark. I guess it wouldnt be that hard... make some 516i's... IE dropping a MINI engine into a 5 series and still keep the 550i's that'll average out to 35mpg LOL
As one who paid his first Gas Guzzler tax in 1987 (535 iS 5spd) AND the last gasp of the Luxury Tax, I'm used to the demagogues trying to squelch fun. Indeed, to this day, when hybrid subsidies come up, I always proudly mention my tax payments...and rhetorically ask who's having more fun?
