Just as stupid as the EU's 120g/km over the range 2012 CO2 target?

According to the article, the bill has yet to be signed into law by the President.
So we really don't have much to worry about just yet....

Cool

IT IS A JUST SHOW OFF...., AS LONG AS THE POLITICIANS AND BIG CEOs ARE / HAVE INVOLVED OR hAVE CONNECTION IN/WITH OIL and COMPANIES HERE IN US /OVERSEAS NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. IT IS A BIG BUSINESS AS WE ALL KNOW.

They have never helped or passed a bill to promote other ways of transport (Trains, Buses, Subs), or never helped in Electric, Hybrid-electric and fuel, Diesel and alternate fuel cars. Infact they destroyed the electric cars developed by GM-Toyota lately.
Some Oil companies with political lobbyist and connections are making profit in Billions and CEOs are getting fatter from the OIL .We are paying thru our Taxes for warsand paying more for gas (any kind) from from our pockets. We are suppose to pay less for gas.We consumers are the loosers.
Prices of Food products/Groceries are rising from the stupid politics involving corn/Farmers.This is a new way and corn will be big business for the such greedy fellows.

NOTHING WILL CHANGE AS LONG AS OIL IN IN THE WORLD and with these GREEDY POLITICIANS and CEOs.

No problem at all for BMW even in this decade.

The enigine to come to the 520d (129 g/km co2 in the 120d) is way better already.
Avarage EU consuption about 5 litre og diesel per 100 kms.

177 hp and 350 Nm is enough power.

0-60 mph in about 8 sec and the torgue is more than the current 3.0 litre N53-enigined LCI 530i has.

Also a new twin-turbo 2 litre L4 diesel engine will soon be a fact.

120g/km CO2 averaged ACROSS all BMW models by the end of the decade?

I think you have to continue dreaming.

Cars with +300 hp has to go.

I would say a +200 hp around 400 Nm 2 litre twin-turbo diesel will be around 120g.

A 150 hp dito could go for less than 100g.

The new 3 litre engines are already around 160-180.

Then the 7-series "wather car" has 0g / km!

We need government intervention, higher gas taxes or a real shortage for us to take this seriously. I have two V8 vehicles that get 14 and 16 mpg (my BMW is the higher one).

Does this make sense? You feel like we need to do something yet you drive vehicles that get 14 and 16 mpg?

Just because we know something is a good idea doesn't mean we necessarily do it.

eg exercise and diet.
