I have a 2006 e60 with the sport seats, and was wondering if anyone has attempted to switch their driver's seat cushion with the passenger side seat cushion? I am a pretty big guy and with 65k, there is a huge difference between the two seats. I don't need to switch the seat back, just the bottom cushion.

I saw somebody did it on an E36

Any ideas? I am looking for an inexpensive way to get that new seat feeling. The only person who rides in the car is my girlfriend and she barely weighs 100lbs, so she won't notice if I switch her seat cushion out

I thought about taking my car in to stealer for the recall on the airbag mat under the passenger seat, and watch how they took the seat apart. Then maybe i could see how to do it.

I love this forum, hope somebody can help.

it'll be a lot easier to just put in a new seat.

here's a set.

Here are some instructions that I put together that may help. The instructions are for changing the seat cover on the bottom but obviously, if you can get the cover off, you may be able to figure out how to swap the cushion that's underneath.

Keep us posted on how things work out...

I did this on my 05 comfort seats but I used a new cushion on the drivers seat and the passenger cover on driver seat.

I went ahead and did the seat cushion swap finally. I did not take photos and I would not recommend that you try it, unless you are experienced in upholstering furniture or something similiar.I had a friend who is pretty skilled at upholstery help me out (or do most of it). It requires that you detach the seat and completely remove it from the car. This is kinda tricky because you have to take extra caution to not scratch up everything in the process. You definatley nedd a buddy or two to help lift it out of the car, cleanly. Once the seat is out, then you also must and take off the leather from the cushion, which takes a long time to do carefully (friend did this with special upholstery tools). I would have definatley screwed this part up if my skilled friend wasn't doing it. Then, its just removing the old cushion and putting new one in and re-attaching the leather. There are some zip ties holding the cushion in place. It cost me about $250 total with free labor. Overall, I think it was worth it, but it still doesn't feel as firm as the nearly new passenger seat. I believe that the springs, or where the cushion sits on the seat, has to do with firmness. I checked and I couldnt find that part sold seperatley form a new seat. definatley recommend having a professional do it. If I had to guess from the info i got from my buddy, they probably charge an 1-1/2 hours or so.
Hope this helpls.

I'm looking to do something similar, but not to the same extent you did.
I just want to peel back the upper seat cover and add some more cushioning to the side bolsters.
Can you explain what you meant by removing the leather from the cushion?
And seen as though I won't be removing the whole cover to replace all of the cushion, so you think the seat would still need to come out?
Cheers
