i'm saying not to add these solvents to your engine oil. adding cleaners and whatnot to your fuel normally shouldnt cause any harm.

I've been using Techron fuel injector cleaner forever on all my previous cars including 3 other BMW's and none did not encounter any problem in the past. Hopefully this one will not have any problem either.

You won't run in to problems if the engine has been properly maintained with regular maintenance and periodically adding Techron (or other products). You will run in to problems if you try to clean the engine with 100K miles with no maintenance done. All the sludge that was built-up is suddenly dislodged and can wreak havoc. This is true for transmissions as well.

Can you qualify your statement and be more clear as to the possibility of engine failure? I have been using seafoam in my wifes E46 for 11 years and 180K miles. In the gas tank (every 1k miles), the oil (100 miles before a change), and thru the vacuum line (every 8 months or so). Haven't had an engine or fuel related issue yet.
