I need help diagnosing this. My car is a 04 545iM with 46K miles. I've been having a screethcing noise coming out of the passenger's side area. It sounds like it's coming from the glovebox. I took the car ro the dealership in December and they replaced the auxiliary water pump. That didn't fix it.
The screetching sounds like a squeal that gets louder while I brake. Here's the crazy part, it only happens when it rains. If it's a nice day out, it won't do it. I told the dealer that I think it's the belts but he doesn't think it is.
The car was there last week and it was there for the whole week. They could not duplicate the problem. Once i took the car home, it started screeching after driving 30 minutes in the rain. The dealer and I are stumped.
The sound is a screeching sound that sounds like it's coming from the glovebox or under the car. When I open the hood, I can't hear it. When I stick my head into the passenger's side, on the floor, I can hear it. It screeches on damp, humid, or rainy days.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Henry

I was thinking that it might be a belt. Here's the reason why. A belt makes noise when its wet. If the car sits on a humid day or after it rains, there will be condensation on the belt. This will make the belt squeal. When it rains, water from the road will splash onto the car and that will make the belt squeal.
The dealership said they checked the belts and the tensioner and they said that everything was ok.

dude, it has to be my wife. Keep her, and take her credit cards. There is no way you can spend as much as she does.
