you can find e55 as low as high 20's this days, a lot of good deals around...
as far as your 545i - why did you give up on rough idle? was it that bad? and transmission?

i'm not talking about CPO, but they are great cars with 40K miles like this: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/1123749123.html

i just typed search keys in craigslist and this is the first one. $29K i also found newer ones with warranty around 30-32K.

as for me, i'd rather take 07 550 cls for $30K because of styling and because it's newer.

You should have taken car in to dealer to do software update and try the tranny reset , cleaned MAF sensor , tune up you, my car was feeling weak before all this.... now I can easly peal my tires with a full load of people in the car ofcoarse with traction control disabled. Before my car felt heavy and sluggy

Upgrade to a M

Thank you for all.
I am not crazy for speed or V8 or things like that.
Other than the rough idle I liked the car a lot. Of course I tried softwarer upgrade, 25s trick, engine tune up, Fuel Injector cleaning, etc. I tried hard and almost fight at the dealership.
BMW said the car is working as designed. I don't know what that means but my wife didn't like whenever I made a stop at the signal.

Anyways,
I found 2006 530i SMG 43.5k mile, Black Saphire wtih Auburn Dakota, Comfort Seat, HUD, Nav, Sport, CWP, Rear Heated Seat, Logic7, Folding down rear seat, Comfort Access, Rear/Side Sunshade.
I like the color combo+options+fact that the service in date is 2006 June, which is like 2007 530i.
How much would you pay for this car? Any advice on SMG?
I know there is no rough idle issue on 2006 V6

Thank you.

I've sold my 05 545i. It was pretty nice but I could not live with rough idle/abrupt stop and start on V8 engine and tranny.
I made upper 20k's out of it and now I am looking a new one.
I found 06 CLS500 with 40k miles at $30k. Any other recommendations?

Thanks.
M6 = perfect.

What kind of car do you want?

My kids are older so I am thinking of going to a smaller car next time, E46 M3 (had one and still miss it), 335i coupe, 135i... The Audi A/S5 is an awesome looking car.

For a sedan I really like my 5 er . Brother in law has and Merc E350, nice but nothing special to drive and it has had issues. If you want a flawless car regardless of the driving experience get a Lexus. They just run perfectly, all the time. An Audi A8 coming of lease is a hell of a car but they aren't known for being problem free...

Infiniti M35/45. Buddy had one. No problems ever but he want back to BMW when the lease ran out. Just wasn't the same.

I have seen some crazy low prices on used AMG Mercs. They always tempt me but I have read the parts/service cost is nuts, Porsche level costs. Speaking of Porche I saw a brand new Cayman at the dealer last week, sticker $62k, marked down to $54k and there are tons of used Boxsters around if you want a sports car.

Endless choices...

My 05 545i idles a little rough but its very minor, never stalls and is very smooth when accelerating with lots of power. Bummer you couldn't get it to run to your satisfaction. In my experience the V8's just aren't as smooth as the STRAIGHT sixes (BMW doesn't make a V6). The difference between the V8 and straight six in terms of smoothness is partially due to the design. Nothing runs as smooth as a straight six, the design has a "natural" balance that you don't get in a V8 or other motors like an inline 4 cylinder. My six cylinder BMW's were always smooth as silk but I also have a V8 muscle car and no matter how much I tune it the idle is always a bit "lumpy".
