I've sold my 05 545i. It was pretty nice but I could not live with rough idle/abrupt stop and start on V8 engine and tranny.
I made upper 20k's out of it and now I am looking a new one.
I found 06 CLS500 with 40k miles at $30k. Any other recommendations?

Thanks.

How about another 545i or 550i? They don't all act the way you describe...

The 550 is a lot smoother.

M5... wait, that might not be smoother. It sure would be more fun though.

Well as long as you are done with BMW, how about a Hyundai Genesis, I hear good things about them!! Seriously though good luck with your decision!

you can find e55 as low as high 20's this days, a lot of good deals around...
as far as your 545i - why did you give up on rough idle? was it that bad? and transmission?

My wife has an '07 CLS 550. I have an '06 e60 550. Huge difference in the cars, some good some bad. The differences are the typical ones you see when you compare BMW to Mercedes. The MB is more refined and smoother, but nowhere near as fun to drive. The engine is silky, and bigger than the BMW, but the drive is numb. Also, the MB gets more looks because of its unique styling. But I love the feel of the BMW. It is definitely a better handling car around curves, and the fun factor is squarely in BMW's corner. Bottom line -- you'll like the CLS, but you'll miss the handling of the BMW.
