it had push button start. it felt a little weak cranking and sounded a bit rough on startup. it clattered for a bit then smoothed out for the most part.
the other thing i noticed, the driveshaft clunked slightly when engaging from reverse to drive.
otherwise the car looked nice besides bald tires and being out of warranty.
what do you think?

a 2007 550 with 54k miles in about 1 or 1 1/2 year??? wow the driver must travel alots.... It seems the car has been on Highways for about +90% that means no stop-go-stop. Just IMO , if the car has good price and well serviced, take it....

If it doesn't run like you feel it should...... then you already have your answer.
If you still got an itch for the car take it to a BMW shop and have them do a once over on it. They usually have a set fee for this and it usually isn't to bad (ie: hour of labor). Could save you thousands.

I wouldn't worry too much about how it sounded on startup. Most BMWs sound like crap when you first start them. Ever heard an M5 do a cold start? Good god!
Mine sounded like gabbage (yes, gabbage) when I first got it, and it still does. But like you said, it smooths out after a short while.
Also, don't be like that other guy here that was warned a ton of times NOT to buy he car he already had misgivings about. He bought it anyway, had a horrible experience, and became a laughing stock.

I got my 2004 a couple months ago. Loaded with all the packages with 45k miles and 100k CPO warranty for $24K
IF you ask me that 07 has WAY to many miles...but if its really cheap it may be worth it.
