Anyone hear when(if) we can add Sat radio to the 2004's? With or without Sat Prep.
Thanks

can be done now with prep. Can always do without prep, but you don't get iDrive integration and you get the mouse antenna on the car. Have not heard of anyone doing without prep and having all the wiring done to connect to shark fin antenna and integrate w/ iDrive, though I suppose it's possible, but at a cost.

kscarrol, can we add it yet (with prep) if we have nav? I thought that was promised around the fall (I think October).

Should I be excited?

Rudy, I thought our cars were in the generation when prep wasn't available with NAV.

Nope, mine has prep -- although I'm not sure it's 'useable' -- it wasn't until a bit later that they removed the prep option if you had nav. (Actually, they were going through existing orders and trying to get dealers to contact the customer to see if they wanted prep or nav, but not both. If they didn't hear anything, they dropped prep from the order.)

Our cars were built before that and my window sticker shows I have prep (but at no charge since I ordered the satellite radio from the factory and they couldn't satisfy the order.)

the dealer who said 3hrs said that i had prep but the other dealer said i did not.

thanks

Rudy, sorry for being unclear. I was speaking as a non-NAV owner and should have clarified. As far as I know, still can't be done if you have NAV, waiting for that promised October deadline unfortunately.

I don't think so. There is a issue between NAV and Sirius that is supposed to be resolved in October with a new software version. You're lucky you at least got the Sat Prep done. For a while the factory stopped doing Sat Prep if you had NAV. Without it, doing the Sirius would be a lot more expensive, if not impossible. At least to have it integrated into the iDrive. You can always do the third party that sticks the mouse antenna on the trunk and uses the FM modulator.
