My Ride: 530d M-Sport (Oct 05 build)
Default

On a long journey over the Christmas break, the Sat Nav in my 530d M-Sport stopped working - initially saying that it was unable to read the DVD and then asking for the DVD to be inserted (even though it was inserted). After a short stop, the Sat Nav system started working again, before once again going on the blink. The DVD disk felt warm and the fascia below the DVD slot was warm to the touch. Once the car had stopped for a while (and presumably cooled down), the system started working again. It was been working fine since, but we have not been on a long journey (the problem started about 3 hours into our journey).

Has anybody noticed this or aware as to what the problem might be?

I don't think it's a heat realated problem. Sometimes players just act, doesn't matter if it's a dvd, cd, mp3 or whatever.
I wouldn't worry about it.
