Default Safety belt warning

Hiya my car just popped up this warning (it's in dutch so sorry about that)

I think it's the detection mat in the seat? And i messed it up by resting my knee on it.

Is my conclusion correct? Or do you guys know of any other issues that caused it and possible fixes without replacing the detection thing should it be that.

Thanks in advance!

There's many parts to the airbag system. The best thing to do is read the codes so you can make sure you're looking at the right part to fix

"Force Limiter."

The device that controls how much force the seatbelt exerts on your body in a crash. It is not a passenger detection problem.

Look down beside the console and the seat, there is a device attached to the seatbelt. Something is going on with this thing.

Something spilled, something shoved under the seat and damaged the wiring, etc.. They are very reliable otherwise. Rare to have them fail. This from another thread:

"it wasn't the seat belt or tensioner/limiter at all.

the dealer says that small cable on the battery was loose and that sends a signal that something is wrong with the system. if you get into a major crash, that cable is supposed to break so the air bag system can be looked at. but if it is loose, it will send the same exact signal."

That small cable is not the one that breaks. If so, then your B+ cable would have self-destructed. See BMW Battery Safety Terminal » Bimmerscan for details.

Just quoting this thread. https://5series.net/forums/e60-discu...-fault-125150/

I believe the poster of comment meant to say, if a crash is detected that device severs the battery connection. It is the control cable. Having a loose control cable can cause the type of error in the original post above. No?
