Rusting on Wheel Brakes?

Is this Rusting on wheel breaks?

Yeap! Very common on the e60. If it bothers you too much you can take the wheels off, clean the rust and use some good quality silver paint. Its a good idea to add some antisize compound on the rotor where the wheel are touching the rotor so the next time thw wheels come off much easier. Finally torque the wheel nuts correctly.

Oh damn.. this is 4week old CPO car.. Arent they suppose to clean it? Its very ugly.. I think all 4 wheels have it .. I thought all car manf. have rust protection? whats up with this rust then?

I had the same on mine and I took care of it as it was bothering me a lot to look at it. Its nothing to worry about but with less than an hour work it can be corrected.

BMW's rust warranty covers the body. The rotors rust is considered cosmetic and not covered by the rust warranty. Another option is to buy another set of rotors from Zimmerman or EBC (more will be introduced soon) which are zinc plated and they dont rust like the OEMs.

Oh thanks for quick info.. I guess I will get them painted when i get new 19" wheels..

It may be caused by a wheel cleaning chemical...

I have found that when I use Maguires wheel cleaner it takes the rust off for a while. Perhaps contributes to it based on Rudy's posts.

Wasn't there someone that was going to take the screen name "rusty hubbs"?

no rust on my thank god touch wood, but have rust on my OEM rotors within 3 days of no driving the car.
I think you can paint them silver like the calipars
