This is what BMW did wrong... They developed the E60 and then at the last minute some executive at Dunlop played golf with some executive at BMW and they bought a load of Runflats without actually tuning the suspension for the car...
And you know Dunlop makes golf equipment too. The BMW exec should have been suspicious when the covers kept peeling off the Dunlop golf balls. I guess business all comes down to a round of golf and some beer. Then the contract gets whipped out on the 19th hole and the next year of BMW production has Dunlop tires mounted on every car.

When I had my RFT and when they wore through at 12,000 miles, I had to drive from tire place to tire place with one completely flat for two days before I could find someone to replace it.

Exactly why I just had the local BMW-recommended tire guys replace it. Sure I could have got it a little cheaper but my time is worth something. Besides my office pays for it anyways.

It sure was nice to say, jee I have a flat tire, I'll have to get that taken care of, and just keep driving I am a believer in the principle behind runflats if not the execution.

Rears UKP270 each and fronts UKP246 each + fitting... So about UKP1,100 for a set!
that is cheepfor 19" RFT, In HK that price would be Sh*ty tyres for 19".

Indeed... This is how 'big business' works! Someone at the top is making lots of money
