It all varies by the manufacturers, and models. For road hazard insurance, you will have to check with the vender or the retailer. When I bought brand new 2008 750Li last year it came with Pirellis P Zero run flats. When my wife put about 300 miles on it, then the driver's side rear tire picked up huge nail. My BMW dealer would not repair it. Other national tire vendors would not either saying Pirellis does not suggest performing repairs on their rfts. So I ended up taking it to Goodyear' s shop. Goodyear is the company that actually first introduced RFTs. They repaired my tire for free. Anyways ask the tire dealers in your local area about how their road hazard insurance work including its policy and rules etc.

I am planning to get road hazards insurance for my future tires

If not mistaken runflats were designed to do just that... run flat. A byproduct of this is they're safer on a blowout
The truth is they're not safer because they are the reason for the blow out in the first place. My best friend just experienced his first blowout in 20years of driving and guess what tyres he was using..
Because of the increased sidewall thickness the ride suffers ,the tyre is less flexible, don't "hug" the road as well hence decreased traction
Because of the increased sidewall thickness you lose some feedback from the steering ie. don't really "feel" when pushing the tire to its limits but
you may see less sidewall flexing while cornering which is considered an advantage ..

That's some might big leaps you're making there.

Your friend had their first blowout in 20 years and was using RFTs therefore RFTs cause blowouts?

My friend got layed off last week, and for lunch that day he'd had a Tuna sandwich, therefore eating tuna sandwiches results in losing your job. I'm glad I've never eaten tuna sandwiches for lunch, I don't want to lose my job.

Haha , that was actually quite funny. Joking aside though -and my friends recent misfortune- they are quite a few poeple reporting blowouts with rtf
