I got the service indicator on the iDrive system to replace the front brakes which were done approx 20k miles ago, I hear a low volume rubbing/scrubbing noise while the car is on the move - the iDrive says I should get them checked in 900 miles. Is this a normal noise when brake pads are running low? I know some cars have noise makers on the pads to warn drivers when brakes are low, I assumed the 5 wouldnt have these since it has idrive.

Can anyone advise if this is normal? I was thinking maybe a sticking caliper but I dont have the symptoms of smoke/binding etc

...just reading into this it appears that the warning sensor could be causing this noise - any ideas?

This is not the time to procrastinate. Visually check the condition of the pads, or take the car to a shop ASAP. GL.
