Hi,
From the owners manual:
The white-striped advance warning field, changes depending on the engine temperature. The segments disappear in sequence as the engine warms to its normal operating temperature.

ka ka ka .. my dealer advisor is same .. I mean I know more than him about e60.. sometimes i feel shy to tell him about his job ?? ha ha ha .. BMW should train them more .. I wondered when I heard that BMW in Dubai,UAE got award in customer service ?? any way they are better than many other automobile dealers in UAE ..
agine very big thanks to << Lomag & das >> for this very useful site .. BMW mush give them award .. .. BMW saved many calls from e60 owners becuase they learn and get support from this site not from their advisors and salesmen

That's another annoying thing about our car. The line never goes away in our car, and the dealer says it's "normal." However, I see in the pics that yours goes away!!!

OK, now I'm confused (not hard to do by the way!). Like SueBMW, mine never goes away. From much earlier threads, I understood this to be normal. Starts at around 4,500 rpm as I recall then goes to just 3-4 white lines at around 6,400 rpm. Now folks seem to indicate that it should go away on petrol cars, but not for diesels. Help me w/ this one.

on my petrol model it starts at around 4,900-5,500 rpm for a cold day and goes down to 6 ,400 when it warms up...but it is still there....im not sure about diesels
