Having uploaded the pics for your edification, now the first question. The new girl comes with Dunlop SP Sport 01 225/50 R17 Run Flats (I was half expecting Goodyear) and then I open the boot and in the well there's a Continental Temporary Tire T135/80 with a warning to inflate to 60psi and keep below 80 kph.

What's going on? Surely we don't have to change to a temp tire when the run flat goes ....flat?

This is the great EU - RF's and a spare.

I have a spare too. But in the wintertime I run with non RF's and soon in the summer also.

Good thing with the Dunlops are, that they are pretty silent running tyres.

225/50 17" is the best choice for a E60. 18" or 19" looks better but...

Maybe I should have entitled it 'belt & braces'. My 2004 E60 didn't have a spare, and I read lots about people going non-RFT and then buying a mini spare but I'm not sure I want to lug around what appears to be a full size wheel as well as my golf clubs. And where am I going to put all my rubbish now?

A 17" alloy full size spare wheel?

If so, put in your garage since you have RF's.
