Here are PDF files showing the new menu choices in CIP 16.1 / 16.2.

The text is in English, but the graphics are in German.

Enjoy,

The title may be misleading, but these notes apply to CIP Version 16.2 cumulatively.

According to that doc, you can turn "perspective mode" off and use the old map view. Is that correct. It shows a menu item called "perspective". The reason I ask is because there may be occasions when I want to see the street names and yuo can not see them in persepctive mode.

Absolutely, it's an addition. They have not taken anything away. You still have Map facing N and Map Direction of travel. Its also now really easy to toggle between these three using a soft button. I also noticed today that if you are in perspective view and you zoom out enough the MAP automatically changes to 2D facing north.

GREAT! Thanks. I was purposely putting off having an update done since I thought that you lost the other 2D displays. I like being able to see the road names on occasion.

I got my software updated. I noticed a small change to the Phone Function. The Alpha Address book now starts with A. Before the update, my first entry was based on numberical.

Secondly, there's another feature that's a nice addition. If I wanted to dial directly there was a sub menu that had 0,1,2,3,4 etc. They added 0,1,23 AND A, B,C,D,E etc. I guess his is to accomodate those people who get phone numbers that have names to them (alike 1-800-LAWSUIT or 1-PAID2MUCH4MYBMW)

A couple of questions....

1. How can I tell what version I have?
2. How do I get the update? Is it free?

I have a 05 545i built in Feb 05

1, Only your dealer can tell you what version you have.

2, They usually do it for free if you have any issues with i-drive (ie slow loading/locking up).
