Rev counter engine situation gauge

My Ride: 535D Sport Auto
Isn't the gauge that surrounds the rev counter indicating how high to rev the engine without any damage whilst its warming up a great idea! I find it very useful. BMW think of everything 
I remember the day I picked up my first E60 and saw it working I thought clever way to replace the temp gauge.

My Ride: 545i - ordered in January delivered April 21st! Black Sapphire Metallic, Black Dakota Leather, Anthracite Maple.
Does it every completely go away? Mine will only recede to 6500.

My Ride: 535d Sport in Carbon Black / high gloss shadow line and beige leather / dark poplar with professional nav, bluetooth phone prep, CD changer, bi-xenon adaptive headlamps, servotronic steering, folding mirrors, heated comfort seats, TV, extended voice control and Logic 7 hifi.
It's also not true for the Auto.
From BMW's perspective, what is more important - one cold thrashing of *your* engine or you not quite getting out of the way of that out of control truck....
