While I've not sold any BMWs I've used craigslist for an older model Jeep and Honda. Both sold for asking price, the honda within hours. I sold a Porsche through AutoTrader, and the buyer flew across country to pick that up. All three sales were pleasant, and I didn't have any problems with either service. Check the laws in your location for sales requirements (if you should keep your plates, or transfer them, etc...)
