Replacing Steering Shaft - Covered by 100K Warranty?
So my car makes a strange sound while turning the steering wheel, some research on E60.net showed the following scenario...
"The noise is caused by a defective slip ring"
My car is approaching the 100K mile mark quickly, and I am wondering if the "Full Maintenance 100,000" covers this... or is this only the 50K "New Car" warranty?
Any ideas?

Thanks for the info kscarrol... I will call the local dealer and find out specifically which warranty the car still has (I am not the original owner, thus I do not have any of the paperwork on the warranty).

Same as the earlier responses to your other question. If you have the paper work, you need to read it to confirm if you have the warranty, the maintenance or both. If you don't have the paper work, surely your dealer can tell you. There are two seperate options available, the Extended Warranty and an Extended Maintenance offering. From your quote above, is sounds like you have the maintenance package which will NOT cover the slip ring, if that is the issue. It would be covered by the warranty, unless it is some sort of recall issue but I have not heard of one.

I ended up calling a local dealer and asking about this. They looked up my VIN number and told me the only items that are still covered are oil, brakes, and wiper blades.
Have a good night!

Sorry I couldn't tell you more. Did you buy the car from a dealer or straight from the previous owner? I assume from your comments it is not a Certified Pre-Owned car, which would have the extended warranty and maintenance.
