Replacement tires for 545
Looking at reviews on Tire Rack and those damn General's for the 545 get some rave reviews from alot of people coming from the PS2's and many other tires priced a 50% higher and more. Most say they noticed next to no difference in performance and the treadwear is high on them. I know when I replace my tires my going to consider them for sure.

ditch the run flats.....get a small spare from the dealer and dont look back....
my first trip will be to the tire shop.....from reading up on this and other forums
Falken 452's seem to get great reviews as do the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical.
I'll be going for one or the other of these.

Hi Guys,
Any summer tire suggestions would be appreciated - (Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST).
My rear tires are worn and due for replacement(surprise surprise), fronts appear to be in good condition.
Considering that I'm not happy with the OEM Dunlops, do I have to replace all four tires(245/40R18 and 275/35R18) if I make the jump to another tire or can I get away with changing just only the rear tires? Also, what tires should I consider??
Thanks

You can always check out the test results at tirerack.com. Here is a comparison of four extreme performance summer tires. Check out the slalom times. Quite a difference from top to bottom.

I had PS2s on my '03 325i and loved them. I recently picked up my "new to me" '05 545i and drove it for a week and a half on the Dunlop RFT's - YUCK! They are now getting replaced with PS2's. I have a spare in the trunk and a cell phone and a AAA card (and BMW Assist), so I'm not worried about being stranded. But those RTF's ride horribly.
And, yeah, the dealer told me that the FTM may give me false readings/warning if I change to non-RTF's, but I don't believe this, since the FTM system is based upon the anti-lock system, not a sensor in the wheel/tire (TPS).
