I will be replacing the battery on my 2007 530i soon and I'm looking at an H8 AGM 850CCA battery.
The replacement battery does not appear to be "vented"; there is no opening on the battery to attach the standard BMW vent line.
Is this a major issue or is it OK to use a non-vented AGM battery?
Thanks and Happy New Year!!!

Note the red plastic cover over the positive terminal.
The little round plug on the upper right corner of the plastic cover is for plugging the vent not used.
On the side, in the areas I marked in red there will be small holes that the red plug fits in. You use one side for the vent hose and plug the other side with the red plug.
Thank you, I'll look more closely for those kinds of possible openings.
Oh, one or two more things...the battery needs to be registered and, additionally, the car needs to know if the battery is an AGM or Flooded type. If you have had this car long enough to know what battery was originally in it and that was an AGM battery, then you only need to register it. If you don't know what the original battery was or otherwise are unsure of what kind of battery the car thinks is in the car, you will also need to change the battery type. Many of the BMW aware OBD tools allow you to query this and register the battery. It isn't important to have this done immediately upon installing the new battery, but get it done within the next few weeks.
Thanks, I'm familiar with the battery registration process having done it before on my 2008 550i. I was able to use Carly successfully to complete the registration process.
I'm replacing an AGM battery with another AGM.
Thanks again for your responses.

The new battery was just as you described and I plugged the one end and attached the BMW nipple to the other end.
However I was surprised to see the attached hose was no more than 5 inches long and was not attached anywhere on the body of the car.
Is there a particular location on the car where the vent hose is supposed to exit. Otherwise it is simply hanging behind the battery and would be the equivalent of not having a vented line attached.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
Wow, another perfect depiction of the answer to my question!!! Thank you very much.
I tried fiddling with that location but couldn't get it to fit easily; I'll go back and press harder to get it connected.
Thanks again for your guidance!!
Had to pull the battery to get enough room for my hand to push the nipple into the receptacle, but got it then reinstalled battery and now all is right with my car world!
Thank you!
