I have GoodYear RFTs my 535d sport and kinda got used to the harshness they offer on poor surfaces.
They are fine on good surfaces

However i still fancy trying a regular set of 18" tyres. Anyone done this? Was the result favourable?
thx

Not me personally, but many have made the change without a problem. While the rims have a special lip inside to accomodate the RFTs, they can accept regular tyres as well. Others will chime in but you can also try a search on the forum.

Loads of people here have doen this - me included!!!

There's a slight loss of 'turn-in' because the sidewalls aren't so stiff but the overall improvement in ride quality makes it worth it... (Also, tramlining is reduced and the skippiness of the runflats over challenging surfaces is lost)

Is the ride difference more pronounced if you replace RFTs with radials on 18" wheels rather than on 17" wheels?

I guess no-one has run the comparison.

I suspect the answer is "yes", but do you have to change all four at the same time? Or is it possible to do front and rear separately? Mine are never in sync all at the same time...

Ian.

Ian.

recommendation is to change all four as the handling characteristics are different.

You do not need a special rim for RF tyres or vice versa.

My next summer tyers will be non RF for smoother ride and comfort!

"Skippiness". Exactly. Experienced that with my stock RE050As, gone with Toyos. Pros and Cons for going either way.
