the rear view mirror on my bmw is cracked on the outside. all the electrical parts of it work just fine. i was wondering if there was any way to replace just the body paneling around it? i tried plastic jb weld to glue it in place, but the downward force on the crack is just far too strong for the jb weld. does anyone have any suggestions? where could i get a new rear view mirror and how hard is it to swap out?

i found this but i'm not really sure which numbered item i would be getting with this, nor how easy the install would be.

does anyone know how to do this? getbmwparts.com recommended me ask here on how to remove the cover from the rear view mirror. they insisted it probably just pops out. if you look at the covers, you can't see any screws, so popping in/out makes sense...

any confirmation on that from anyone? thanks.
