Has anyone renewed their BMW Assist contract ? Did you use the concierge ? Does it give you directions like a navigation telling you where to turn , etc?

The concierge send you a new destination, your navi will take you not the concierge.

The concierge service is just one part of the convenience package. And yes, a person at BMW Assist will give you directions if you need them. If you don't have satnav, this can be quite useful if you get lost.

To answer the first part, although now that the service is free for four years and I don't keep cars that long, renewal is not an issue, I did renew for my first car with BMW Assist.

Regarding the concierge, yes, I use it frequently for restaurants in other cities, hotel recommendations, managing travel issues, changing flights, etc. They are very helpful.

The "Convenience Plan" is not free. That has the Concierge and other cool stuff. I renewed it on Mrs. sixcard's '06 E90. It is very useful for one who is not too swift with maps (nav) and bimmer tech stuff.

Its worth it.

I like the fact I can have BMW assist find locations and download them to my NAV while I'm driving. Great when I don't have time to stop and dial in the directions myself.

That's great, I did not know about the download bit. I have to play more with Mrs. sixcard's E90!

Cool it, f-puck, I know exactly what you are thinking!
