was wondering if it can be replaced.
think i read somewhere that it cant be done because you need to remove air bag to do it. anyone have any experience with this?

Correct, AFAIK it cannot be removed without destroying the airbag. That's why the aftermarket emblems are usually just stick on

I managed it without destroying the airbag but I won't ever try it again!

yes i bought one of the stick on ones but its flat and the OEM one is rounder so it wont stick properly and it cant really be bent into shape either

Got my steering wheel emblem from Trinity... it has a slight curve to it and just sticks over the original one. Not sure its worth the trouble of possible screwing up the airbag, and with my luck I would probably trigger some chimes and warnings!

I got the one from Trinity as well.
It sticks perfectly over the original and you would
never know unless you look at it directly from the side.

i bought one on ebay and gave it to the guy at bmw who takes care of my services he replaced it for me (no charge) im sure it took them two secs. i didnt want to do it myself and risk messing the airbag up.
