I don't think it's possible to lock the car with the key still inside. Certainly with the Lexus and (I think Audi) equivalents that is the case.

I suppose there's one way to find out.....
Search this forum and you will find horror stories about being locked out of your e60.

Looking at page 39 (Comfort Access) of the owners manual I have taken off this forum's site, it says:

"The vehicle or the luggage compartment lid/tailgate can only be locked if the vehicle detects that the remote control you are carrying is outside the vehicle".

So I guess that if you have Comfort Access and you can still lock your remote in the vehicle, there is either a fault with Comfort Access, you are using a manual key to lock the car or another Comfort Access remote by depressing the lock button on the remote manually ???

Otherwise I don't see how you can lock your Comfort Access remote in the car. Unless maybe its battery is flat and that is why the car can't detect it inside ?

Disclaimer: Newbie, car yet to arrive, only reading the owners manual, no first hand experience - and I am assuming that the Comfort Access remote works the way its described in the owners manual

Remember, there is a race between engineers striving to build better idiot-proof devices, and the Universe trying to produce better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

Yes easy way to find out open the window and throw your key inside the car and try to lock the car... it wont work.

Or keep the windows closed and removed the metal part of the key and throw the fob in the car and try to lock it by touching the door handle... it wont work.
