I am interested in putting an aftermarket cd player in my car. I would like to relocate the oem player and install the new one there. Because of the Idrive I understand that the cd player cannot simply be removed. Has anyone ever relocated the cd player so that the idrive still "sees" it. The aftermarket system would be completly independent of the cars stereo/idrive.

nelson29,

I had seen that e60 and it looks great, but I would like the head unit where the stock cd player is. If I get a new trim piece fort he stock cd player, I think I can cut it out to fit an aftermarket one, but I'm just wondering if anybody else had done it.

changing your head unit is a MASSIVE undertaking that would cost thousands upon thousands of dollars

What are you trying to do? what headunit are you trying to use? Why dont you get something like the Audison Bit One? Ive taken my dash apart and believe me theres no space to do what you trying to do. Relocating the fibe optic is gonna be the toughest part. all the cables are short.
