My new Bentley service manual lists the Bosch FR7NPP332 or the NGK ILZFRD11 for the N52 engine. It also indicates that a "thin wall" socket is required.

It depends, my car came with Bosch Platinum +4's so when I changed my plugs I got the same ones. Some of our cars come with NGK, but since they're pretty much the exact same price/performance you can't go wrong with either of those.

+1. All my BMWs came with these as well. And they have 5 yr warranty. Just exchange them every year or two. Can never hurt

thanks guys for the replies, been crazy busy at work and just now looked back on this thread.....

What's the gap, or are these types already set?

I got manual, but always like to hear from experience.

Hmm...how does the exchange work? Do the plugs have to be purchased and installed by the BMW dealer? Or can you buy the plugs and install them yourself?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

The gap is already optimal for performance. They typically ship with a cylinder inside each box to protect the tip and maintain the gap size.
