Hi to all of the people in the E60 forum,

I recently purchased a 2004 530i and am loving it! such a nice car but I need some help on figuring a couple things out!

if you can help I am all ears! ...... here are some features my car has:

- Heated seats front and back / steering wheel
- i drive
- zenon headlights
-fog lights
-17" 5 star wheels
- No cd changer
- No navigation
- Canadian Car / date on door sill is 02/04
- logic 7 sound -I think?

Here are some questions:
- is this car blue tooth compatiable? if so how do I activate it?
- Can I upgrade to navigation, if so how can I get the parts? DIY?
- Can I program the central locking to auto unlock once the ignition is turned off?
- how can i figure out what packages are on the car? ie premium package? cold package?
- can I install a ipod interface? if so how?

I used to drive a 325i which is much differnt from this new car, so please bare with me while I learn about the car.

Thanks
Proud BMW 530i owner

Welcome!

2/04 build date is just before CIP (software) only upgrade. You're looking at a very expensive TCU upgrade to add BlueTooth. I too have no nav, and I don't believe it's possible to add BMW nav retroactively. Better off buying a nice aftermarket variety...just have to mount the display in a good location that doesn't block your iDrive screen. I had my dealer add the iPod Aux input (glovebox). No song readout on your display, just iPod plugged in via mini-plug and playable through the car's sound system. (I use a remote control to randomly flip through my favorite playlist, with the iPod hidden safely in the glovebox. Works great.) Enjoy!

GoRovers already answered BT upgrade - very expensive!

So does Nav - I don't think anyone here has done something similar.
No, you cannot unlock car, but you can set via iDrive that doors do not lock at all. I have set mine to lock after driving away and I use the door handle. First pull - unlocks, second - opens the door.
Premium package has 3 buttons on the rear view mirror for garage door opener.... I think it also included auto-dimming rear view mirrors and ambient orange lighting on door handles, etc.
You have cold weather package.
iPod integration with steering wheel functions will set you back around $500-$600 at the dealer - that all - parts and labor.

Search around and most of these questions are answered here.
