Seen some 20 complains only on this forum about this matter. (Use Search).

Goes for all LCI L6 gasoline engines except the 535i.

Good that BMW finally does something about it.

Just got my 530i LCI back today after having the (new) injectors fitted. I?ve been waiting for them for nearly TWO MONTHS WTF!!???
They also did a software update... My car has been running pretty rough at anything over 90 km/h due to the bad injectors but now it runs soooo smooth again, I might even be able to fall back in love with it

My dealer told me that my LCI 530i will be recalled soon for this software update. It has already had the pressure pump chnaged twice.

OK, my car has had the software update this week. It took almost 20 Hours (was connected over the network to Germany). I still don't believe why it took so long. My settings on iDrive were lost and I had to set them again. Does this mean there was a Progman update as well? How can I check?

I have noticed a change in the engine running. Not sure good or bad as I have not done serious driving yet.

Please share your experiences if you have had the software update.

Regards,

Hi,

My 525iA LCI was programmed on monday this week. They did a complete update, but managed to maintain all settings, so far I have only found out that programmable buttons had lost their settings. First impression was that autotranny was quite sharp in changing gears, but now it's okay - either I have got used to it or it has got used to my driving style.

So far so good, no problems. They will change the injectors on monday 19th November, so let's wait and see if that makes any difference in engine sound or fuel consumption. I have driven just 4600 kms until today, average speed 41 km/h and consumption 9,9 l/100 km. My way to job is only 5 kms so I have a lot of could starts and city driving. My old 530iA -04 used to take 13 l/100 km so I am quite happy with the efficient dynamics...

ricrac - are you certain the 535i is not affected with this issue as well...have you seen the official BMW recall EXCLUDING the 535? I ask because I thought I had read posts here were a couple of 535i owners had the fuel pump issues as well. I'm hoping mine (built 10/07) will already have the software update when it arrives.

Hello Forum members,

Now it happened, yesterday my 525iA LCI had "motor failure, limited power supply" message on the i-Drive screen. I was able to drive it to the dealership and today they announced that the high pressure fuel pump was broken. They changed it, but the car will stay there until they can get new injectors as well. So I am driving a 3-series sedan until it's fixed.

The car was reprogrammed on 5th of November and it was due to go in for injector replacement on 19th November but it was canceled due to lack of spare parts.

It had only 5175 km's in the tacho as the pump broke. I was told that the new pump has a new part number and that the new injectors have already a second new part number. So it seems that this is quite a difficult problem to be solved... I really hope they have fixed it with current modification of parts.

I will keep you informed whether the car feels any different in terms of engine sound or fuel consumption after replacement of pump and injectors.

Best regards,

Deep Sea Blue (ex TitangrauII530iA)
