I've never seen a rear wiper on the E60 saloon.

Saloon cars in general do not come with a rear window wiper. Hatchback and estate cars will have them. There was one exception to this if I can remember correctly, I think either a Skoda Octavia saloon or a Skoda Superb saloon, used to come with a back window wiper (not any more), I remember I saw it for the first time and thought how "odd" it looked. Clean your back window with a good glass cleaner and the next time it rains, the water drops "should" roll off the glass.

If you can find it try using Rain-X on the glass. While not like a wiper it will help rain bead up and run off.
