I have recently noticed a slight oil leak/ lubricant flow on both of the rear windows - at the juncture of quarter [small window] in my 550- see pictures. I wiped it clean with interior trim spray/ cleaner and also with soap and water but the oil/ lubricant came back.

The car has rear shades on both sides and I have not noticed any thing like that before in any of my previous BMWs. I called the Service Advisor at the dealership and asked if they have experienced anything like that before but hey have not. Planning to take the car at the service department to have them look at it soon.

Has anyone experienced any thing like that and what could be the cause of this? is there a seal of somesort which is damaged? But what could have caused it? I am really puzzled.

Could be the cosmoline coating used during shipping on the exterior. On the exterior of the car it goes away eventually.

I've had the same thing with the blinds on my 550i which is now about 1 1/2 yrs. old. I think the heat makes the lubricant sort of flow out and down at that point your pictures show. I haven't worried too much about it as it is a minor nuisance. I just wipe it up with some Meguiars' Interior Detail and a Microfibre towel when I wash the car. I am assuming at some point the leaking will dry up - I didn't want to try some "fix" that takes out all the lubricant and ruins the blind. Good luck, you're not alone.

Normal, as far as normal goes. I've had that on my rear driver's side shade for 2 years. The heat in the summer makes the oil flow as in your pictures. This last summer it pretty much stopped so I suppose it's done. Not worth doing anything about with the car coming off lease in 2 months.
