Rear Window Groaning Noise When Rolling Up
Hey guys! I'm new here. I have an 08' 535xi with 70k miles. I was going for a windows down cruise and when I returned home and rolled the windows up I noticed an unusually loud noise coming from the passenger side rear window when rolling up. It doesn't happen when rolling down. It's not a clicking or grinding. More of a groan. Almost like a pump running. It just sounds like the window motor is trying too hard. Everywhere I've looked says this is the window regulator, but I was just looking for some extra input. Is there a reason it only happens when rolling up and not down? Does this confirm that it's the window regulator? Thanks for reading!

Try lubing the window lifter with white lithium grease. If that doesn't work, it is most likely the lifter and/or motor.

It sounds like the regulator. There is more pressure with a window going up than down. I would remove the door card to get a better assessment before deeming the regulator bad. Could just be something in the way or need cleaning and lubing. I'd hate wasting money on something if it doesn't need it.
