I really think the problem is related to the negative camber, but you would think that they could come up with a solution that doesn't require changing tires every 10k-15k miles. Does that not sound like a problem and not a neccesary evil of owning a nice car?

Does anyone know what degree of negative chamber is set on the rear..from my experience you need a few degree's before you will get a really noticable wear patern like i have just experienced?

Did you get the tires replaced for free due to the Service Bulletin? I don't have the link but the # is SI B36 02 05
It states Noise and or vibration caused by Irregular wear of the Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST RF due to Irregular tire wear...
Correction..
if this situation is detected based upon a customer complaint and/or during a service visit: and only if the tires have less than 20k miles, replace all four

I'm on my 3nd BMW and the rear tires always wear out first. They usually look like they are cupped even though I maintain correct tire pressures religiously. My dealer said it is due to the BMW wheel geometry...it's the way the cars are set up for handling and is therefore normal. I have no idea if that is true, but it's the explanation they gave me. On every other car I've had, including Mercedes, the fronts always wore out first.

The tire behind the driver is wearing much more than the other one in my car
Is an alignment covered for free under the 50,000 miles maintenance in USA?
I followed the advice of the bulletin and complained that my 10k 2004 (bought it 5/12/2007) and they replaced all 4 tires for free. Just like the TIS said insides are worn and the rest of the tire surface is good.
