you are only looking at peak power, and disregarding the power curves, along with rpms and transmission gearing.

it's pretty pathetic that you persist though, that the 530 is as quick as a 535 or 550.

+1. This guy continues to try and justify his purchase in this forum. Its very pathetic. This thread fails. Geez

I have an '06 530 and have driven an '09 535 as a loaner, and I can tell you first hand that the 535 is much quicker off the go than the 530. With that said, like HowHow my 530 can go after 30mph....but that initial acceleration goes to the 535...no questions.
I also had a chance to drive a 550 a few weeks ago, and that made me feel like my 530 was a Smart car!!

Your personal experience is irrelevant to the thread starter's pencil figures.

please tell me your "muscle car" that you are coming from and referred to numerous times is not a z28 Camero... That car in all its glory was a POS from the get go.

I have a Chevy "muscle car" 2009 z06 and it is a beast! But its apples and oranges when comparing a 535 to a 530. (yes I own both)

The 530 is a great car and for what it is I dont think another sedan can compare to it........ except a 535, 545, 550, or an m5!

you say that your 530 is not stock.... whats been done to it and have you dyno'd it? whats the numbers if so?

who said the 530i was quicker than the 535 or 550? did you read my posts or are you just attempting to make fun of me by misquoting me?

haha, it makes me laugh that you guys care so much. do you know me? why would anyone think that i have to prove to a bunch of internet people that my car, which you couldn't identify, is justifiably a better purchase than any other E60? the general idea of this thread was to compare weight vs power in the E60s. your garbage inputs about me, who you do not know, contribute none at all.

that being said, thanks PlanB for the useful input. i actually test drove the 2010 535i right after i test drove my current 530i and the power difference felt marginal. that is actually what prompted me to investigate the weight/power, since i knew the 535i was actually rated with more power.

i never said my car wasn't stock i don't think. you must be reading someone else's post.

the camaro was great, i don't know what you are talking about. same engine as the corvette (not z06), just a little cheaper design, but obviously that was reflected in the price. they are both GM and after 75k miles parts go to shit just as easily on either. i would buy a camaro over a vette any day, but that's just because the vette is a sell-out of a car, and i personally think with the right mods, a camaro is more aesthetically pleasing. mine dyno'd 360hp basically stock, which is far more than it's rated at (300hp). obviously that's a personal preference, but to say a camaro is a POS is basically...well, for lack of a better word, dumb. typical z06 owner perspective though

what year 530 do you own? remember before 2006 they were much less powerful. i'm sorry, i just did not notice a huge difference between the 530 and 535, and it might be that the 2010 535 was "slow" or even that my 530 is "fast" when compared to others. i don't know, but i do know cars and acceleration, and the two i drove felt nearly identical. the 528 however was poky as hell. i actually dyno most all of my cars, so i plan to eventually dyno it and will absolutely post the numbers. i am not ashamed of my 530i at all and as others have noted, even a 535 vs 530 race was not as significant as he thought. perhaps because you own both and have owned them for a while, you are very adept in their acceleration differences at different rpm's/speed. i would like to see stock 535/550 dyno numbers, too, especially after i have dyno'd mine. that will speak more on the power/weight estimations.

I love reading this stuff....... here is a simple response to reading all of this.

I drive a 530i - its sweet. Ever since I got it I want a 550i ----- for many reasons, power, features, and of the course the subtle aesthetic differences. So I am selling the 530i to my brother and getting an 06' 550i and mod the SHIT out of it.

but..... ill be sure to tell my brother that his is as fast as mine though as long as he doesn't put his 300 pound girlfriend in the backseat!

nice try, but your 530i is only 225hp

guess you didn't really read it after all
