A week ago I took my car in for service because the I-Drive would not boot up. They performed CIP update 21.2 and said everything is fine. Well, the car not fine . It is worse then ever
. Since getting the car back, I have had 3 SOS malfunction warnings, the car does not accelerate as fast (the car feels like it has 30hp less), when accelerating it will suddenly lunge forward (feels like the missing 30hp comes back), and at low speeds the power steering becomes very heavy, especially when turning left. In addition, the RDS still does not display station info correctly and the in-dash cd player continues to play when the car is turned off. At first, I thought it was me, but decided to take it back to service. I just got a call from the service department and expected to hear "could not duplicate problems, everything checks out ok". Instead I got, "we spoke with bmw in germany and all of your concerns have been confirmed. bmw germany said a fix will not be able until June sometime and that we should apologize for the problems. come pick up your car"
. What the f@#!%. I cannot believe this crap. Now my car has 30hp less, accelerates when it feels like it and steers like crap. No more BMW's for me or my wife in the future (this is my 7th). I never thought I would have a vehicle with worse quality than my 2004 Nissan Titan Crew Cab, which I sold (stay away and consumer reports agrees).

They need to clear the fuel memory. you'll see a tramendous difference.
I'll tell you, these guys don't know right from left on these cars.
Let me know how you make out.

I had a similar experience with the apparent loss of HP when I upgraded to 20.x. In addition, the MP3 functionality which the SA said that they had enabled did not work either. I have been lazy and have not yet paid a friendly visit to my dealer but will do so shortly. Thanks for the fuel memory tip.

I know the problem with your RDS. I had the same issue, it's not really a problem.
When you save a station, make sure you wait until the name of station come out, not the name of the song or singer. If you save it when RDS displaying the name of the song, it will save has the song name, not station name. Hope it helps.

This is why I am really afraid of software upgrade. Sorry to hear your pain.
I also upgraded to 21.2 last week. I also asked for the MP3 retrofit and brought a copy of the SIB(thank you E60.net). I've had no problems since. MP3 works fine and no problems with power loss. Although I haven't played around with the RDS feature much, it is there now where it wasn't before. I'm not sure, but it seems that I can actually shift between gears more smoothly (could be my imagination!) Sorry for your pain. Let me know if I can answer any questions regarding my upgrade.

Just an update on my bluetooth issue. I was able to pair my phone by accessing the bluetooth menu via voice command. It is strange that using the idrive to access the bluetooth phone connectivity page does not work.
