good question tekor. I'm in the US as well and mine has worked from delivery. I looked through the manual and no instructions for turning RDS on, just a description. I believe it is functioning all the time, but the station has to be broadcasting the signal for RDS. I know doesn't help much, but maybe no stations in your area are broadcasting RDS.

RDS has worked for me since I took delivery also. Just only on few stations in my area. From time to time (depending on where I am) I have seen station names, song titles/performers, etc, displayed. Again, seems dependant on what the station is broadcasting. Also, I am still on old firmware... 11.x waiting for MP3 upgrade (hopefully in a month or two) to take mine in. Not sure if that matters or not...

Anyone with Nav see this working? I have NAV and it does not work for me. Not in "Manual" mode, "Preset", or "All stations".
Here's why I ask...
I got a loaner e60 while mine was getting upgraded to version 12 and the car did not have Nav. Although, RDS worked. Strange.
I know there are differences with the actual radio unit though. Cars with Nav also seem to have "Weather Band" in the U.S. (mine does). While the e60 loaner I got did not have WB.

I have a recent build date, June 15 '04. BMW tells me the softwear is version 12.
They told me version 12 softwear removed RDS because of some type of a conflict.
They don't know when, and if it will be activated again. Recent builds in many cars also do not allow dialing from car with BMW or V60s Motorola. This should be corrected within a couple of months with another softwear change.

Not with mine. I have version 12.12 now.
You guys ever used to see things like "local 1" or "local 2" on the "All Stations" setting? Mine used to do that. That was fixed with version 12.12. I think that has something to do with RDS. Maybe that's part of the "conflict" mentioned earlier.
But again, no RDS at all in my car now (with Nav). And there are tons of stations here offering RDS. I used to see at least 60% of the stations here with it on my Porsche Boxster. So again, I know it's NOT working properly on mine. But I'm still wondering if it's because I have NAV since my E60 loaner car had some RDS working (and no Nav).
