Get that sucker up to 50 mph or so, in reverse, it should clean the read window.

Seriosly I am a long time fan of Rain-X. Does an excellent job. Wipers are not necessay over 40 mph.

But, someone, here on the forum, suggested a long term build up, from Rain-X, that may lead to wiper blade chatter. I do believe I have seen that. It is a minor concern compared with the benefit, IMO.
That's one way to kill your transmission. I agree that Rain-X does cause some chatter in the long run, that is why I don't use it on my front windshield any more. It's like heroin, as long as you use it your fine and the water will pearl off, but stop using it and your blade will chatter and your too lazy to get the stuff off your windshield, use it again and everything is great again. The Rain-X addiction.

The rain don't bother me much on the rear window, sometimes in city traffic a bit,
but the rear side mirrors are really good on a E60.

Snow must be removed before starting but that's it.

Defog if needed.

i use rain-x. it's perfectly fine and on the back of the bottle it will tell you in what intervals to re-apply. i also got fog-x to prevent the inside windows from fogging up
