My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
Pjinca I was there when they were installing them, and i can tell you they just took them out of the box straight to the car, they didn't clean a thing.. I'll try the 60-10mph runs and see if it gets better.. doubt it tho. this is sooo annoying, i went through a drive thru yesterday and ... well, it was horrible lol
There's a local guy selling OEM rotors for $300.. brand new in box... should I ?

P.S. Never go to that mechanic again, they don't know what they're doing.

It is not the rotors or pads that's noisy, it's all about the install. Dod you properly grease the dowel pins that the calipers move on before the reinstalling? Did you grease the backs of the pads? Do both with copper grease and you shouldn't have any noise, or greatly reduced noise. Even OEM's squeal like a stuck pig when they get dusty, not exactly a solution - I know I took my car to the dealer several times when I first got it (my previous 530) and they always said the same thing: "perfectly normal, they squeal when they get dusty"

if i were to to use the same rotors again, i'd take them off and sand the surfaces and even the pads lightly, and then reassemble and then embed them in.

sorry to hear about what happened. but yes all rotors should be properly cleaned before even putting them near the car to install. a brake cleaner spray could be found at any automotive retail store. +1 to take off the wheels and try cleaning them, and bedding them in again as pjinca described above.

My only heads up on the brake work is make sure you have a 7mm allen head socket. It is not a standard size so just make sure you have it before taking things apart. That and a nice robust flat head comes in really handy. Other than that, all you really need are basic tools.

Quick Update, took the front rims off, applied 180 grit to the front rotors, sprayed some Break Kleen, did the 60 mph to 10 mph hard breaking a few times.. and bamsis! No more squeaks so far! Thank you gents!
