I bought the extended warrenty thru BMW for my 2008 550I sport which continues the original coverage . With the electronics this car has, it will pay for itself quickly if needed. It also is Transferred when you sell before 2 years or 100K . I also bought the maintence plan because I drive 25K a year and with the normal cost of brakes, plugs, filters and normal requirments , I'm covered.

^ How much the did the BMW extended warranty run you? I got a quote for $3,800 for bumper to bumper through Carchex today, but they seem sketchy to me...
I will probably not opt for the maintenance plan, I only drive about 7K a year.

My Ride: 2008 550i. Murdered. Carbon Black. Painted tail lights, M5 trunk spoiler. RS Technik 15mm spacers (rear). Black 172's.
Love the ride, man. I'm actually in discussions with my Dealership about exending the warranty. They are currently offering 0% interest if you finance it. One of the things she did say off the top was, the sooner you buy the warranty the better (cheaper). I am at 36k right now, and had the intention of waiting another 10k or so. Of course, take everything they say with a grain of salt. I will let you guys know what they say about financing and what is actually covered.

Since I bought both, I paid $3450 for the warranty . It's priced by the engine size and all prices are the same as long as your under 50K . This is the Premium BMW plan that my rep said had only been out a few months when I bought in in Jan. The Paperwork and the rep difined the coverage as everything the first 50K covered and it's a BMW policy .

Thanks, I was actually looking for alpine white, but this color was really nice when I saw it in person. This color is easy to keep clean, so I've heard. Titanium silver is a awesome color as well. I will definitely pass by Motorcepts in queens, as I'm looking forward to upgrading my angel eyes. When are you NYC guys going to start your weekly meets?

To get full coverage, "Platinum Protection", (including maintenance plan-I believe)it will cost ~$3900. This covers everything including navigation and audio. Extending your warranty by 2 years from in-service date, and/or 100,00k miles. Basically the same coverage as the 50k. The Maintenance plan alone costs ~$2400. The platinum coverage you can finance. My dealership is offering 0% for 12 months. Now I believe you can haggle on the price a little. (I could be wrong on that) There are other levels of coverage, as well, that are cheaper, obviously not covering as much. I'm getting a brochure in the mail with a list of those. I'm sure a veteran member of the forum could shine more light on that..
She did reiterate that the earlier you get the plan, the less it is. Not sure how much less it is. Could be BS. I am at 36,000 miles right now.

My Ride: Silver 08 550 sport
Welcome, i did my extend warranty with Fidelity for my 04 545 threw a local dealership and it was worth the money, it's about $3854 say with tax $4000 for 3years and 36k miles it covered more than the one bmw offers. I trade the car in last month and I sold it back to Fidelity and got back $2500, i only used 12k with the ac compressor was replaced, driver side mirror, and a few other stuff. My 08 550 new car warranted ends in June then the CPO kicks in, if i do decide to keep the car ill definitely go with Fidelity again.
