quick question - noise when you open door

My Ride: 545i SE Oct 03 (53 plate) 19" Alpina Classic rims
I hope that this is normal.
I noticed today, that if you leave the car unlocked (no key in ignition) for a while, say 10 mins or so and then you open a door (any door) I am getting a noise that sounds like a vac pump starting - a very brief whirr noise.
whilst messing around with the bluetooth today (new Progman installed) i noticed the same noise, after about the same period of time - the key was in the ignition in pos 1
any ideas... I assume that its normal ??

It's normal. Usually if the car sits with nothing being touched, the car will go to sleep after about 16 minutes. As it goes to sleep, you'll sometimes hear a buzzing noise. Once the car is asleep, if you open a door (or simply unlock it with the remote) the car will wake up and you'll hear buzzing noises again...
