I paid about $240 for the kit and $370 for the installation and programming from the dealer. The kit was discounted through Garry Romani but if you buy it at full price and have the dealer do the install, it'll run around $700. If you do the installation yourself then yeah, it wouldn't be that high.

Yeah, I bought mine from Garry too. Around 200 as I remember.
was an easy install and my dealer charged me 50 for the software update.

Are you talking about the aux input or the full integration kit? Your signature says you have Aux input and the integration kit is completely different.

this is the BMW iPod integration kit. The aux input came Std with the car and I have never actually used the aux input for anything. You can't operate the iPod menu with the idrive with the aux that's why I bought the iPod integration unit that installs in the glove compartment.

Are there DIY instructions out there somewhere?

Thanks for the clarification. Looks like you saved quite a bit from installing it yourself.

I would think so because I used them to install mine. Good detailed instructions as I remember showing how to remove glove box door , the box itself, how to find the optical cable ( which , by the way if you don't have the 6 cd changer is well hidden and taped somewhere and I remember it taking me a while to find)

search around under iPod integration

Thanks, Tony! I think I would go for the full integration. Which iPod integration kit do I need? There's one with the harness and one without it. Did SC BMW also re-program your iDrive? BTW, I have a CD changer in the glove box. Is that a problem? Sorry! Too many questions!
just looking at your picture are the 2 drive bays seperate units?
